Officials with a major Chinese seafood company, which ordered its first shipment of lobster from Nova Scotia in 2013, announced Monday the acquisition of an Eastern Passage processing facility.

The new owners of H&H Fisheries Ltd. will hire about 50 workers and ramp up immediately to a year-round from a seasonal operation as Capital Seafood International Inc.

The parent company, Zoneco Group Corp. Ltd., of Dalian, China, also plans to establish an estimated $4-million storage facility in the southwestern part of the province, company officials said at a news conference at the Eastern Passage processing plant.
