BSR stands for Business Special Report and grew out of the experience of the founder, John Bonar in working on advertising-driven Special Reports for international newspapers and magazines and local newspapers and magazines during his 40 years of reporting experience in Libya, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Dubai and Cyprus for a range of media including The Associated Press, ABC News, the BBC, The Financial Times and Time Magazine.

For 15 years he was working in Russia and spent two years as Editor-in-Chief of the expat magazine Passport and a year as the UK Representative on the Council of National Representatives of the influential Association of European Businesses in Russia.
