Russia and Great Britain resume negotiations regarding the possible change of visa requirements for the citizens of both countries. This information was presented by Karen Malayan, Head of Economics Department, Embassy of the Russian Federation in London. At the reception celebrating the beginning of World Travel Market in London Malayan announced the two countries reached an agreement for reopening a series of negotiations around easing visa restrictions.

Waiting for Chichvarkin

 

Moscow is waiting the outcome of the London extradition hearing on fugitive businessman Yevgeny Chichvarkin. London's Westminster Magistrates' Court postponed a hearing into Russia's extradition request on August 2 until September 13. A Court spokesperson told RIA Novosti the decision had been made on July 21, but declined to comment further.

Judge attacks wealthy divorce tourists

A young Russian couple's 'bitter and unruly' divorce battle was criticised in the Court of Appeal today over whether it was a good use of judges' time. Ilya Golubovich, son of multi-millionaires, wanted his divorce pronounced in Moscow whereas his former wife, Elena, wanted a London decree. Both used delaying tactics at the courts in the two countries, racking up legal costs of up to £2.25 million.

Britain and Russia to cooperate on space exploration

Britain and Russia’s space industries signed an historic agreement on Wednesday for a new era of cooperation between the countries.The memorandum of understanding signed at the Farnborough International Airshow, enables British space companies to capitalize on an expected boom in Russian launches to orbit, following the imminent retirement of the U.S. space shuttle fleet.
