The works including business centres, hotels, bridges and other APEC structures are being already about 60% complete Darkin, the Primorsky Territory Governor, reported at a press conference in the Federation Council in December, according to RIA Novosti.

“We can say that today 60% of the construction works in the framework of preparation for hosting of the APEC Summit in Vladivostok in 2012 has been performed,” the Governor said.

According to him, total 262 billion Rubles is to be allocated in the preparation for the APEC Summit in 2012 including 202 billion at the expense of budgets of different levels.

The building work is scheduled to be completed in November-December, 2011 and the cosmetic works will start.

The flagship project to erect a bridge over the Golden Horn Bay to the island site is to be completed by November-December, 2011. However, it cannot be brought into operation immediately: there will be still many things to do. It is necessary to paint the bridge girders and structures, make the traffic lane markings and put in order all bridge approaches; Victor GREBNEV, the General Director of TMK Company, builders of the bridge was quoted as telling a local newspaper.

“The bridge needs the cosmetic works. It will take many tons of the most up-to-date resistant paint and varnish materials,” Grebnev said.

The cosmetic works cannot be done in the winter conditions. So the bridge over the Golden Horn Bay and the bridge approaches are to be brought into operation in November-December, 2011.
