Popov Island is located in 20 kilometers from Vladivostok in the middle of the Peter the Great Gulf, in the Sea of Japan. The island is named after Admiral Andrei P. Popov. Both Vladivostok residents and visiting guests like to spend summer holidays on the Russkiy Island and the Popov Island; it is the favorite recreation zone. There are some camp sites and recreation centers on the Popov Island. Every summer lots of tourists go camping there and pitch tents at the seaside. Currently the tourists can get to the island by ferry or boat; it takes them two hours.

Golden Horn Bay bridge will be new icon for Vladivostok

Contractors will start to instal cables for the most famous new bridge over linking Vladivostok to Russkiy Island over the Golden Horn Bay this November.  The cable is guaranteed to work over 100 years. But according to the estimates this bridge will function well even for five hundred years, according to the Primorsky Territory Administration press service.

The cable is being manufactured in France, according to specifications of the bridge design by a French engineering firm.

The total length of the main cable supporting the suspension bridge will be 42 kilometers and the length of all suspension stays will be equal to the distance between Vladivostok and Khabarovsk (1,497 kilometers).

The bridge over the Golden Horn Bay is the unique construction in Russia. It will become the seventh biggest cable bridge in the world.

The bridge lit by powerful lights at night will become the city decoration and tourist attraction.
