Troms County Council transferred its regular meeting over the border to the Russia city of Murmansk. Troms County and Murmansk Oblast have established close contacts in many fields. This week the members of the Troms County Council went to Murmansk to discuss further cooperation with their Russian parliamentarian counterparts.

Murmansk port included in 72 hours visa-free list

The Russian Government has included Murmansk into the list of ports that are allowed to receive cruise-vessel tourists to visit the city for up to three days without holding a Russian visa.The non-visa allowance include tourists from other nations arriving in Murmansk on ferries or cruise vessels, reports the regional news-portal Murmansk Business News.

Oil tankers sail to Chukotka through North East Passage

The Arctic shipping season 2010 is closely followed by the world’s shipping interests as global warming makes the sea ice retreat in record speed. By sailing the Northern Sea route,  ship-owners save both time and fuel-costs as the distance from Europe to Asia via the north is much shorter than traditionally routes through the Suez- Panama-, or around Africa to Asia. Two Murmansk registered oil tankers Varzuga and Indiga are right now on their way through the partly ice-covered Northern Sea Route on their way to Chukotka in Russia’s Far East.

Sky high prices for Murmansk Forum

The price for participation at Murmansk Economical Forum in October varies from 35,000 to 60,000 rubles.

If you want to get the lowest price, 35,000 rubels (€920), the registration must be submitted before August 31st. Barentsnovareports that the price depends on the “participation package” whereof there are two options.
