The RuStyle Networking evening on June 10th in the Moose bar and club at 31 Duke Street was a success. The crowd included a Chinese finance and market entry consultant, a Korean designer and a Ro9manian news correspondent.

The Moose' James Passmore, helped the hostesses Alina and Nadia make sure everyone felt at home and the participants partied on well after midnight in the downstairs club.

Moose is where it's at

Situated at the holy trinity of West End shopping that is Oxford Street, Bond Street and Wigmore Street is Moose. Cool rather than ‘achingly hip’, Moose is a mass of intriguing contradictions. It’s a bar. It’s a club. It’s a lounge. And it also serves tasty light bites.

The latest in the RBCC series of Just Networking evenings in London was hosted in the MacDougall art auction rooms in Charles II Street.  Against a backdrop of Russian non-conformist Art and Art of Resistance from the Lili Brochetain Collection, which will be included in the June 10th Auction of Russian Classic and Contemporary Art, a widespread gathering RBCC members and guests from the UK and Russia enjoyed wine and canapés.

May 9th is observed as "Victory Day" in Russia and in many former Eastern Bloc countries. Commemorating the defeat of Nazi Germany 64 years ago, in 1945, Victory Day is both a day of remembrance and a celebration of peace. It is celebrated as a great holiday and there are widespread demonstration of respect and affection for the dwindling number of veterans of the war.

The event is being increasingly commemorated in recent years in London. This was the fourth year, when Russian and British veterans of Arctic Convoys (1941-1945) joined together on board HMS Belfast in London to celebrate 9 May Victory Day and the 65th Anniversary of the Great Victory in WW2. The commemorative ceremony included the Russian Ambassador, Yury Fedotov, who presenting the 65th Anniversary Medal to a number of British Convoy veterans.

The event was sponsored by Petropavlovsk plc, the gold mining company and VTB Capital the Russian bank.

Our gallery (click on image gallery at top of article) shows the veterans, the Ambassador and sponsors at the ceremony and guests mingling in the festive atmosphere aboard HMS Belfast afterwards.
