Ozkaya appointed CEO of HSBC Russia

Huseyin Ozkaya has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HSBC in Russia, following all regulatory approvals in the Bank of Russia. He will report to Tony Mahoney, Deputy CEO of Continental Europe. Mr. Ozkaya replaces Stuart Lawson who served as CEO for two years before resigning earlier this year.
Huseyin joined HSBC in 1991. During almost 20 years with the Group he has gained extensive emerging markets and strong global banking experience, most recently in Turkey where he has been the head of Corporate and Investment banking. In 2006, he was responsible for launching the Business Banking Network for SME banking which operates today in a third of the bank’s branches in Turkey.
His achievements include the acquisition of Demirbank in 2001; establishment of the investment banking business which includes structured finance, corporate finance and financial institutions management; and SME banking. Since its start in January 2006, the business has attracted more than 100,000 new clients; and a number of landmark deals in structured finance and mergers and acquisition.
Mr Özkaya has a degree in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and a Masters in Business Administration from University of Wisconsin.
The HSBC Group in Russia is operates through OOO HSBC Bank (RR), an affiliated company of HSBC Bank plc, member of HSBC Group. HSBC Russia provides a wide range of corporate banking, investment banking and financial markets products and services to corporate and institutional customers. In June 2009 HSBC Russia launched the bank’s world-class retail offering, opening four branches in Moscow and an affiliate in St Petersburg. HSBC also offers private banking services to clients in Russia.
