Wizz Air’s Kiev base now serves 12 destinations with addition this week of Barcelona (Girona) and Valencia.
When Wizz Air first entered the Ukrainian market in July 2008, it focused on domestic services, and operated with just one aircraft from a base at Kiev’s Borispol airport. International services began to London Luton in December 2008, followed in January 2009 by further services to Cologne/Bonn, Dortmund, Katowice and Oslo Torp.

Peter Kaznacheev seeks to help business navigate emerging markets

Peter Kaznacheev, is a former member of the economic advisory team to then president Vladimir Putin and an assistant representative working on the preparation for the G8 summits. He later became a business development advisor for BP generating new business for the company. In 2009 he founded Khaznah Strategies Ltd. in London. Khaznah styles itself as “Bridging Business Cultures in Emerging Markets,” and in reinforcement of this, its web site www.khaznah.co.uk is in English, Russian and Arabic. His company has a strong bias towards the natural resources sector: oil, gas, metals and mining which he believes can act as locomotive for other industries.

Every month a hundred or so Russians and their friends come together for a social evening and business networking opportunity in Home House, an exclusive London club on the corner of Portman Square. The regular event is organised by RUSSIANSinUK, an organisation founded in 2006 by Anya Portnik, who landed in the UK as a boarding pupil at a private boarding school twenty years ago.

Rusnano and British Celtic Pharma will jointly produce nano medicines in Russia
Russia´s state nanotechnology corporation Rusnano will spend $300 million to develop a newly-created international biopharmaceutical company Pro Bono Bio (PBB), with British investment fund Celtic Pharma being the other party to the deal.
The new company, with its headquarters both in Moscow and London, will focus on the development of innovative medicines in a such areas as hematology, endocrinology, cardiology, oncology, and neurology, as well asfight combat infectious diseases. According to the official statement, the British party will mostly be responsible for expertise and experience, while Rusnano will provide for necessary financing through its subsidiary Rusnano Capital. Also, Russia will soon have state of the art production facilities, the release adds.
British Minister for Trade & Investment, Lord Green,lead a delegation of 24 business leaders to Moscow
As part of the visit of Prime Minister David Cameron, the business delegation members signed deals worth £215 million, creating almost 500 UK jobs. 24 companies took part in the visit ranging from retail firms to engineering and financial services companies. The Prime Minister also announced a special symposium to be held in St Petersburg in September next year for automotive and pharmaceutical companies interested in doing business in Russia.
Lord Green visited the Moscow Planetarium where the British company Global Immersion designed and installed new theatres worth £4.5million. Whilst there he met the CEO of Rusnano, Anatoly Chubais, for the official announcement of Rusnano’s investment in Plastic Logic’s new electronic textbook.
Russia, UK sign new Partnership for Modernisation
The Prime Minister, David Cameron, and President Medvedev signed a Partnership for Modernisation, which will facilitate the UK bringing its expertise as a key partner in Russia’s modernisation.
The Partnership for Modernisation will sustain the development of knowledge based economies in the UK and Russia by supporting partnerships in business, industry, education, sport, science and research.
Kingfisher's Castorama to open nine new stores in Russia
Kingfisher, the British home improvements retailer, will open nine new home improvements stores in Russia over the next two years, it was confirmed today. The B&Q owner already has 17 stores under the Castorama banner in the country and plans to invest a further £115 million by 2013 by opening four to five stores each year.
