Last month was the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of the Association of South East Asian Nations and it was celebrated in grand style by the ten member countries from Indonesia to Myanmar all of whom have long ties with Moscow and students studying in Russian universities. This group of countries are better placed than the ‘Group of 8’ to withstand the economic slowdown brought about by the international economic crisis.
