Peter Kaznacheev, is a former member of the economic advisory team to then president Vladimir Putin and an assistant representative working on the preparation for the G8 summits. He later became a business development advisor for BP generating new business for the company.  In 2009 he founded Khaznah Strategies Ltd. in London. Khaznah styles itself as “Bridging Business Cultures in Emerging Markets,” and in reinforcement of this, its web site www.khaznah.co.uk is in English, Russian and Arabic. His company has a strong bias towards the natural resources sector: oil, gas, metals and mining which he believes can act as locomotive for other industries.

Peter, 34, was born in Moscow to parents of the traditional intelligentsia. Educated at Moscow State University he earned a Master’s degree in international economics and finance from John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington DC. Speaking Russian, English, German and some Arabic he now says he defines himself as a “global” entrepreneur rather than a Russian or a British one. “I am Russian but the company is registered in Britain”.

He sees an important role in putting businesses in emerging markets together, ironically based in London, which he says should not be seen as a British or even European financial centre but as a global financial centre. “London is frequently seen by Russians through a lens of politics,” he analyses, “while in London you appreciate that it is commerce above all that matters.”
