Small Business

Addressing the G-20 summit in Seoul, the Russian President Dmitri Medvedev urged for easy credit access, both domestic and international - to small and medium enterprises.

“One of the key tasks is to ensure an unhindered access for small business to national and international capital markets,” Medvedev said while addressing the summit. “For this we need new mechanisms. Here efforts by just one state won’t be enough.”

The Economic Development Ministry official is preparing legislation to allow small and medium-sized businesses use temporarily available government property. Andrei Sharov, head of the ministry’s regulatory department, told the State Duma that for qualifying property, business owners would be required to pay 40 percent of the actual rent value in the first year. In the year, the figure would rise to 60 percent, reaching 80 percent in the third year.
