2014 Winter Olympic budget reaches $1.1bn

The Winter Olympics to be held in Sochi 2014 has had a welcome boost with the signing of new sponsors and partners pushing the budget to record levels. Alexandra Savina of the Sochi 2014 organizing committee announced late last week that the budget is now estimated at $1.1 billion, more than has been spent on any Winter Olympics.

 

 

Savina said that the organizing committee’s prime objective is to organize a unique, successful and innovative games which will exceed all expectations and express the character of the new Russia.

More than 27 thousand people from 80 countries will participate in the games and over 600,000 spectators are expected to attend.
