Carlsberg, Russia’s biggest beer brand plans to become one of the main sponsors of the soccer World Cup, due to be held in 2018 in Russia. The Chief of Carlsberg’s ‘Baltica’ division said that the company is planning to start preparations from now.

Speaking at a Copenhagen presentation, Baltica CEO Anton Artemyev said “We can’t say yet if we’ll become a sponsor. We’re looking at it”. However, the Denmark based company “will be very, very visible” during the event and the brand will “certainly capitalize on the event”, he said.

The beer manufacturer is the leading brand in Russia with a 40 percent market share. Russia is the world’s fourth largest beer market and the recent awarding of ‘FIFA world cup 2018’ has certainly boosted the country’s image.

“It’s certainly very positive news for Carlsberg”, Artemyev concluded.
