Vienna Opera Ballet ballerina Karin Sarkisova, fired for a series of photographs published by an Austrian magazine in which she posed naked has been reinstated. The director of the Vienna Opera Dominique Meyer originally said the ballet was getting more attention from the nude photographs than from a new recording it hasd released. "Ballet is open mouthed at new pictures that were published in a section dedicated to sex. On the front page of the magazine says 'naked ballerina, ballet, what we love,'" said Meyer.

Sarkisova said she felt discriminated against by the decision of the Vienna Opera, where she has worked since 2000.

Sarkisova was born in 1983 and was trained at the Bolshoi theatre in Moscow.

After the ballerina met with Meyer, the Vienna Opera said in a statement, "Based on her explanations and apologies, the management has decided to reinstate Karina Sarkisova into the ballet corps".

"I was not aware of the negative consequences which would be caused by the publication of these photos, and I did not want to harm either the ballet corps or the Vienna Opera," Sarkisova said in a statement.
