The reduction of the price for Russian oil for Belarus to $165.6 per thousand cubic metres, starting with the 1st of January 2012, will bring Belarus an annual economic profit of $2bn, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov told the RTR-Belarus TV channel.

He also pointed out that the second installment of the loan from the Eurasian Economic Community, which is $440mln, will be sent to Minsk in the next few days. Now Belarus will have no currency deficit, its gold reserve will grow, and its trade deficit will shrink drastically, the diplomat said.

Surikov believes that Belarus has overcome the peak of the crisis. He also forecasts a high profit for Belarus from its integration with Russia and Kazakhstan.
