The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee today named Baltika Breweries as the official beer supplier to the Winter Games after President and CEO, Dmitry Chernyshenko, signed an agreement with Isaac Sheps, CEO of Baltika Breweries and Senior Vice President of Eastern European region, Carlsberg Group.

Baltika will now be able to use its official Sochi 2014 supplier status in marketing communications and on product packaging. Baltika owns 10 beer breweries across Russia and has a market share of 37,8%, with beer products available at 98% of points of sale around the country. The company is a prominent advocate of responsible drinking and works hard to promote its products in harmony with an active, healthy lifestyle.

Sochi 2014 ambassadors’ team has been joined by as many as 157 singers from one of the oldest musical collectives of Russia - the Kuban Cossack Choir. In its new role, not only will the Choir participate in the events of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad, but also facilitate the spread of Olympic and Paralympic values throughout Russia. The Kuban Cossack Choir has already become the second representative of the Krasnodar Region within the close-knit team of Sochi 2014 ambassadors - in 2010 Alexei Voevoda, the World bobsleigh Champion and multiple Olympic medallist, joined the team.

A team from The Russia House, the London business facilitator  company focussed on Russia,have just returned  from a recce visit to the winter Olympic venue of Sochi 2014. It is three years since their last visit, and they have shared with BSR some of the observations, changes and improvements.

They travelled to Sochi from Moscow Domodedovo on VIM AVIATION, which has a reputation as the equivalent  of EasyJet - but tyhe team found VIM were better, efficient and comfortable. 

 

As part of the celebrations, OMEGA unveiled an innovative clock to count down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds to the Opening Ceremony of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games scheduled for the 7th of February 2014. The clock's design is intended to capture and reflect the spirit of a dynamic and diverse region.

On one side, the clock counts down steadily to the beginning of the Olympic Winter Games; while the reverse side of the Countdown Clock marks the time to the opening of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games which will begin on the 7th of March, 2014.

The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, V/O Goznak and Sberbank of Russia has announced the start of the Sochi 2014 Coins Program. It will be one of the largest-scale coins programs in the history of the Olympic movement: between 2011 and 2013, 46 kinds of commemorative and savings coins made from gold, silver and non-ferrous metals will be issued. In total 36,7 million coins will be created. Moreover, for the first time in Games history a coin with a value of 25 rubles will be issued for mass circulation. Also for the first time in Russia the reverse side of the coins will be decorated not by the two-headed eagle, but by the National emblem of the Russian Federation.

Sochi 2014 has announced its plans for cultural events in the British capital during the Olympic summer Games in 2012. Working with the Westminster 2012 Events Team to create a concept worthy of the site, the Russian organizers of the next Winter Games will introduce the southern Russian city of Sochi and the surrounding Krasnodar Region through sport and cultural performances at one of London’s best-known landmarks, Marble Arch, opposite Hyde Park and the world-famous Speaker’s Corner.
